Subject: WOMEN'S WIRE
WOMEN'S WIRE (Worldwide Information Resource & Exchange) is a new
computer network serving the information and networking needs of
women. WOMEN'S WIRE draws its content from the media, newswires,
women's organizations, government sources, and most importantly from
its subscribers - offering a central source for the latest women's
news and information. Subscribers can access the latest legislative
updates, reports, health abstracts, movie reviews, calendars,
conversation, and more - about the forces and issues impacting
women's lives.
WOMEN'S WIRE has a point-and-click graphical user interface for
the Macintosh and PCs running Windows 3.1. A command line interface
is currently available for DOS and Unix; you need your own
telecommunications software to dial into WOMEN'S WIRE with DOS
or Unix machines. A graphical interface for DOS will be available
sometime in the first half of 1994.
WOMEN'S WIRE currently offers Internet email, mailing lists, UPI
newswires, and Usenet newsgroups. Subscribers can telnet to WOMEN'S
WIRE using the VT-100 based command line interface, or the Mac GUI if
they have a Macintosh with an IP address.
To telnet, use telnet wwire.net and enter wirenew at the login prompt.
Telnet charges will be the same as local direct dial: $2.50 an hour
after the first two hours that come with your monthly subscription.
A subscription to WOMEN'S WIRE costs $15/month, which includes 2 hours
of online time per month. Additional online time costs $2.50 per hour
for local direct dial (the WOMEN'S WIRE server is in San Francisco)
and Internet access. WOMEN'S WIRE also offers access through SprintNet
local access numbers in the U.S., at $5.00 and $7.50 per hour for
off-peak and peak access, respectively.
If you need information about international SprintNet access numbers,
please email support@wire.net. We will provide you with a number you
can call for local accesss charges.
To receive a free starter kit including a disk (for GUI users), please
call us at USA 415-615-8989, or send email to subscribe@wwire.net.
Please include your name, address, telephone number, and be sure to
specify whether you use a Macintosh, a PC running Windows v. 3.1, or
any other computer. (Again, the latter requires telecommunications
software to access the command line interface).
Thanks for your interest in WOMEN'S WIRE!
Cheers - Russ, Customer Service Manager
